At Pastoral Transitions, Inc. (“PTI”, “we”, “us” or the “Company”), we take your privacy rights very seriously, and are committed to protecting the personal information of all of our users.

We encourage you to read this privacy policy to understand the information we collect and how we use and disclose it. This policy applies to our entire website (the “Site”), and all of the pages, products, services and applications (collectively, the “Services”) that link to it.

1. Information Collected by the Company.

When someone uses the Services, we collect certain information from and about the user, his or her devices, and his or her interaction with the Services.  If you use our Services, some of this information can be used to identify directly, or can identify you when combined with other data.

Information you provide. When you are using the Services, you may be asked to provide personal information about yourself, such as your name, e-mail address, telephone number, other contact information, payment information, financial information and/or details about your employment status.  Collection of user information occurs whenever the user corresponds with someone employed by PTI via the Services, or completescomplete other forms on the Site, such as in connection with a referral to a counselor. You may also provide information about a third party through the Services, for example, if you provide PTI with feedback or status updates on your interactions with third parties referred to you by the Company. We may combine this information with other information we collect from your interaction with the Services.

2. Cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies.

We, and other websites which we may be linked to or affiliated with (a “Linked Site”), may use various technologies to collect information automatically when you access and use these websites, and the Services, which technologies may include without limitation cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies. Cookies are bits of electronic information that can be transferred to your computer or other electronic devices in order to identify your browser.  Cookies are important to the proper functioning of a site. To improve your experience, we use cookies to remember log-in details, identify information which is most interesting to you, and optimize site functionality. When you use the Services, we and/or Linked Sites may place one or more cookies on your computer or other electronic device, and/or may use other technologies that provide similar functionality. We and other Linked Sites may use cookies to connect your activity on the Services with other information we store about you in your account profile or your prior interactions on the Services to, for example, store your preferences. The use of cookies can helphelps us and other websites improve the quality of Services you use, by identifying information which is most interesting to you, tracking trends, measuring the effectiveness of advertising, or storing information you may want to retrieve on a regular basis.  At any time, you may adjust settings on your browser to refuse cookies according to the instructions related to your browser. However, if you choose to disable cookies, many of the features of the Services, and the functionality of the websites which use them, may not operate properly or work at all.

Certain web pages which you may visit or land on while using our Site or other Linked Sites also include web beacons or pixels, which are electronic files used to count users who have visited that page, to track user activity over time and across different websites, to determine users’ interactions with emails we send, to identify certain cookies on the computer or other electronic device accessing that page, or to collect other related information, and this information may be associated with your unique browser, device identifier, or Internet Protocol address. We may, for example, implement a pixel on the pages of the Services where you view a certain advertisement so that we can track whether you visit a website associated with that advertisement at a later time.

3. Third-party cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies.

We and other Linked Sites may work with service providers and advertising networks to track and manage cookie information, to track your activities while you are using the Services and your online activities over time and across different websites and devices.  For example, third parties may use cookies to deliver selected advertisements to you based on your visit to the Services. If you do not want to have your activities tracked while on the Site, you may “opt out” of cookie tracking and analysis from any of these service providers and advertising networks (see: Opting Out of Collection of Information by Third Parties, below).

4. Mobile device and mobile browser information.

You may adjust the settings on your mobile device and mobile browser regarding cookies and the sharing of certain information, such as your mobile device model or the language your mobile device uses, by adjusting the privacy and security settings on your mobile device. Please refer to the instructions provided by your mobile service provider or mobile device manufacturer.

5. Location Data:

If you enable location services on your mobile device, PTI or other Linked Sites may be able to determine the location of your device, and some sites may use that information to provide you with specific, location-based information and advertising.  If you wish to deactivate this feature, you can disable location services on your mobile device.

6. Usage Logs: 

PTI and other Linked Sites may collect information about your use of the Services offered, which information may include the type of browser you use, the time of day on which you access the Services, the pages you view, your computer’s IP address, and the websites or pages you visited before navigating to our Services (including any links you may have clicked on to get to a Service).  Usage logs also collect information about the particular computer or mobile device you used to access the Services, including hardware models, operating systems and versions, unique device identifiers, mobile network information, and browsing behavior.

7. Calls and text messages. 

Any telephone calls between you and PTI, or between you and a Linked Site or other affiliate of PTI, may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance and customer service purposes.  You will be notified at the beginning of a call if it may be recorded or monitored.  We or Linked Sites may use third-party service providers to track phone calls and text messages between you and individuals or entities which are identified on, or which advertise on, the Site, so that we or they can access certain details about the contact. As part of this process, PTI and other service providers may receive in real time and store information about your call or text message, which information may include the date and time of the call or text message, your phone number, and the content of the text message.

8. Public Content.

You may provide information publicly, through the Services or on another website or other medium, such as when you leave a review about your experiences on the Site; when you contribute to discussion forums; or if you engage in online chat or other interactive activities.  Such information may remain in public view for an indeterminate amount of time, or may be taken down at any time in the discretion of the Sites or other medium on which they appear, especially if any public comments contain statements which are objectionable, illegal or violate the rules, guidelines or standards of such Sites.

9. Social Networks.

If you use any social networking connection functions which may be offered through the Site or any Linked Site, we or they may access all of your social network profile information that you have made available to be shared and to use it in accordance with this privacy policy. Please refer to the instructions governing your social network account to manage the information that is shared through your account.

The Company will not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from any person under the age of 13.  We rely on the information provided to us about your age, and your compliance with PTI’s posted rules and guidelines pertaining to the availability of this Site for minors, for this and other purposes.

10. How We or Others Might Use Your Information.

The Company generally uses the information collected from users of its Website to enable the delivery of, and to enhance or improve, the Services, including:

  • to provide and deliver the Services, process transactions and send related information such as confirmations and invoices;

  • to send technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;

  • to respond to user’s comments, questions and requests;

  • to provide customer service;

  • to communicate with users about products, services, offers, promotions, and events offered by the Company and others, and provide news and information we think will be helpful or of interest to you;

  • to monitor and analyze trends, usage, and the adoption of new information and activities, in connection with our Services;

  • to revise, modify, and update existing Services and develop new Services;

  • to detect, investigate and prevent fraud, violations of our standards of appropriate speech, and other illegal activities, and to protect the rights and interests of PTI, other Linked Sites, our respective users, and others;

  • to personalize the Services and present users with advertising, content or features that we believe will be of interest or useful to you;

  • to use the information to facilitate referrals to counselors, outplacement and other organizations who may be able to Users through a pastoral transition or pivot;

  • to link or combine with information we get from others to help understand your needs and provide you with better service; and

  • to carry out any other purpose described to you at the time the information was collected.

11. Email Management. 

You may receive email from PTI, or one or more of our Linked Sites, for a variety of reasons - for example, if you took an action through the Services, if you signed up to receive a report or information, or if you posted some communication directed to us, to another Linked Site, or to another user or person. You can manage your receipt of some types of communication by following the instructions included in the email you receive or on the website triggering the sending of an e-mail.  Please note that, even if you unsubscribe from certain email functions, the Company or a Linked Site may still need to email you with important transactional or administrative information.

12. When PTI Shares and Discloses Your Information.

Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting the information that identifies you personally.  We only share the personal information that you provide outside the public areas of the Services in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent. When you consent or direct PTI to share your personal information. This may happen when you submit your information through one of the Services. For example, if you choose to contact a particular business or professional provider through the Services, your name, phone number, email address, and message content will be available to the recipient of the message. Similarly, if you apply or request to receive a given Service, from PTI (whether directly or through one of the Linked Sites), your application information or request will be provided to the individuals or companies charged with the responsibility of responding and/or providing the requested Service.

  • Service Providers to the Company. When PTI engages a service provider to provide or help operate the Services or any other aspect of our business, we will provide access to personal information only as we deem to be appropriate to perform the service for or on behalf of PTI for which the service provider was engaged by us, consistent with and subject to the terms of this privacy policy. PTI is responsible for the privacy of your personal information that is shared with service providers, and we take your trust in providing it very seriously.  We are not responsible for what happens to any information after it is delivered to a service provider (as that is the responsibility of the service provider, and you should familiarize yourself with each Service Provider’s or Linked Site’s own privacy and other website policies before giving them access to your confidential information), but we will seek always to work with reputable professionals who share our values with respect to the receipt and usage of your personal information.

13.  Partners with whom we conduct business. 

When the Company works with other businesses (including the businesses that manage Linked Sites), to provide our users various products and services, we may share information with those business partners only as needed to provide those products and services and only subject to the terms of this privacy policy.

14.  Legal obligation or protection from harm.

When the Company has a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of information is reasonably necessary to: (a) satisfy any requirement of law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; (b) enforce or investigate a potential violation of our Terms of Use, or other regulations or guidelines adopted by us; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise respond to fraud, security or technical concerns; (d) support auditing and compliance functions; or (e) protect the rights, property, or safety of PTI, its users, or the public against harm, then we shall take such steps as we feel are appropriate in order to perform any of the foregoing activities.

15.  Business transactions. 

If PTI were ever to become involved in a business merger, acquisition, combination, joint venture or any form of transfer or sale of some or all of its business, assets, capital stock or other interests, whether as a going concern or as part of a liquidation or other, similar proceeding, or in connection with a loan, investment or other financial transaction, we may share information about our user base generally, and your personal information, specifically, in connection with such transaction.

PTI may also use, share, sell or transfer aggregated or de-identified information or data that cannot reasonably be used to personally identify any specific user of our Site.

16. Interest-Based Advertising

We, or any of the Linked Sites, may participate in interest-based advertising campaigns. This means that when you use the Services, we, any Linked Sites, and/or any other third party service providers or advertisers on our Site may use cookies (that they collect or that we provide to them) or other similar technologies to collect information about your use of the Services (including mobile applications) or your online activities over time and across different websites and devices.  Collected information may include the content you view, the date and time that you view this content, the length of time you spend reviewing any given content or web page, the website that referred you to the Services, and this information may be associated with your unique browser, device identifier, or Internet Protocol (IP) address. These practices help tailor advertisements that we or they believe would be relevant and useful to you. These tailored advertisements may appear on the Services or on other websites, applications or properties.

You may opt-out of cookie tracking and analysis as described in the section below entitled 'Opting Out of Collection of Information. The Services may not otherwise respond to ‘do not track’ signals.

17. Opting Out of Collection of Information. 

As indicated above, PTI's third-party ad servers, ad network providers, and/or third-party advertisers (collectively, “Ad Providers”) may provide you with advertisements that you will see on the Services or on other Linked Sites. To improve the relevancy and help measure the effectiveness of such advertisements, these Ad Providers may use cookies, web beacons, clear gifs or other technologies that are used to record a user's activity, such as the pages visited, and to learn what types of information are of most interest to users generally. For more information regarding the choices you have about these technologies (such as opting-out), you may visit websites such as those sponsored by the Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance [see: https://digitaladvertisingalliance.org/press-release/network-advertising-initiative-and-digital-advertising-alliance-launch-new-version, retrieved September 16, 2022].

Opting Out Generally: Further information and help can be obtained from the comprehensive Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising program, which provides consumers with the ability to opt-out of having their online behavior recorded and used for advertising purposes [see: https://www.iab.com/news/self-regulatory-program-for-online-behavioral-advertising/, retrieved September 16, 2022]. The settings and changes you adopt are specific to both your browser and the device you are using. This means that if you access the Site on multiple devices, you will have to “opt out” on each of them individually.

Do Not Track: Some browsers have a “do not track” feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet uniform, so we are not currently set up to respond to those signals.

Flash Cookies:  We currently do not use flash cookies, but we may in the future.  Because flash cookies do not reside in your browser, your browser settings will not affect them.  You can delete and clear flash cookies by taking the actions in your settings which are prescribed for the specific device or computer operating system that you use.

18. Third-Party Links and Websites

Within all of the Services, the Company may link to the websites of other companies and/or individuals, including the Linked Sites. Further, certain functionalities on the Services may involve the distribution of your listing information to Linked Sites and other third-party websites. The Terms of Use, Privacy and other policies and guidelines appearing on this Site have been adopted by, and apply to, PTI only, and do not extend to any other website which you may visit, EVEN IF YOU CLICKED THROUGH, WERE DIRECTED TO OR OTHERWISE REFERRED TO SUCH OTHER WEBSITE FROM OUR SITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Please refer directly to these third parties and their websites regarding their specific terms of use, privacy and other relevant policies, and do not assume that anything contained in this policy has been or will be adopted or followed by them.

19. Security and the Retention of Information

PTI takes reasonable steps to protect the information users share with us from unauthorized use, access, and disclosure.  However, no transmission of information via the Internet, nor any electronic storage solution, can be entirely secure, so please be aware that we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can access, update, and delete personal information you provide to the Company in your account profile by logging into your account on the relevant PTI Service. We may maintain a copy of the original version of your information in our records.

We will retain your information for as long as we deem necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law, or deemed reasonably necessary by us for purposes of legal compliance or security.

20.  Transfer of Information to the United States Government or Others Pursuant to Proper Legal Process.

PTI is headquartered, and operates solely, in the United States, and you acknowledge that the information we collect is governed by U.S. law. By accessing or using the Services or otherwise providing information to us, you consent to the processing, transfer, and storage of information in and to the United States, where you may not have the same rights and protections as you do under other legal systems, including your local law.  The Company may receive various forms of legal process from government agencies and private parties requesting information about our users. Before we produce information, we will attempt to notify affected users and give them an opportunity to object unless notification is prohibited by law or if we believe that notification would create a risk of harm or be otherwise counterproductive.  Neither PTI, nor any of Linked Sites, will accept liability, or be liable to any person whatsoever, for any information collected by it on the Site and/or the Linked Sites which is provided to any other person as a result of proper legal process or requirement, whether or not we may notify any such person that the information has been or will be provided to any person or agency if compelled by legal process.

21.  California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident and have provided personal information to PTI, you are entitled by law to request certain information regarding any disclosure that may have been made by PTI to third parties of personal information for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, send an email specifying that you seek your “California Customer Choice Privacy Notice.” Please allow up to thirty (30) days for a response.  PTI is required to respond to only one request per customer each year, and is not required to respond to requests made by means other than through the indicated email address.

We will not share your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes if you request that we do not do so. You may make such a request by sending us an email at talk@pastoraltransitions.com.

When contacting us, please indicate your name, address, email address, and what personal information you do not want us to share with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Please note that there is no charge to you for controlling the sharing of your personal information or for processing this request.

22. Protected Health Information

Because, as a part of our Services, PTI may communicate with licensed counselors or other medical health professionals in providing pastoral transition clients with the help that they need, and in the billing and collection for such services, there may be times when we will receive and use information about your medical health which is protected by applicable federal or state laws, including without limitation the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”).  Your protected health information generally cannot be used or disclosed without your knowing consent in writing, and we may ask you to provide such consent if it is deemed reasonably necessary to provide you the Services you need.  It is entirely your choice whether or not to provide us, or any Service provider, with your consent to use your protected health information for any purpose, but the failure to provide such consent may make it difficult or impossible for us or any Service provider to deliver some or all of the requested Services to you.

Please note that this policy, and any aspect of our Terms of Use, may be amended or modified at any time, and from time to time.  You should check back for the most current version before relying on any of the provisions in this privacy policy. We will provide notice of material changes to the policy, either by posting a notice on our Site, by sending an email, or some other reasonable method.
